The Fondation du Patrimoine is expanding its national religious heritage program to include a dedicated initiative for the restoration of synagogues and other Jewish heritage sites, with financial support from the Edmond J. Safra Foundation.
This landmark program aims to preserve a vital yet often overlooked part of France’s cultural and religious history—recognizing the deep-rooted presence of Jewish communities across the country.
The participation of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation continues its long tradition of support for the French Jewish community and its heritage.
The first site to benefit will be the Consistorial Synagogue of Metz, a listed historic monument. Through the support of this program, the Synagogue will be able to complete the restoration and reinforcement of its façade, stone steps, stained glass, and original decorative elements.
This marks the most significant restoration effort currently underway in France focused on Jewish heritage.
The announcement has raised interest and generated coverage in local and national French media.
